Man, are you wrong. here are 10 responses, in order, to your 10 points.

10. Zezel had a long NHL career. Anyone who can do that qualifies as a skating / hockey consultant for actors who have never even played the game.

9. So what. Is it that big of a deal to you? Maybe his character wanted to be different..had a little superstition…whatever.

6. Ever seen Greg Oden? Did he look like a college player to you? Looks can be deceiving. And the full bearded Racki would have been a better example for you than Swayze.

5. There have been junior games that took place at that time of day on weekdays back in the 60’s, so it’s not that much of a stretch.

4. Anyone who wanted to make the NHL would choose to play for a scouted team in Canada over a bush league in Florida.

2. Not sure what bootleg copy of the movie you’ve been watching, but the clock doesn’t move during the penalty shot.

1. Why not? We only see Racki fight twice, and both times it’s against Youngblood. What makes you think he was a great fighter? You can be a goon and rack up tons of penalty minutes by cheap shotting guys and beating up wimpy players / ducking the heavyweights. Where int he movie does Racki display heavyweight fighting skills? Never.

HA! i agree. Emerick and John Davidson were the worst announcers. I was happy when Davidson went to St. Louis so I wouldn’t have to put up with them talking about how players once rode trains to games and wore hats.

I would agree with you 100%. This year’s classic was another production that was extremely well done by the NHL. (Was I the only one who was actually excited by the pre-game news that Doc Emrick had laryngitis?)

This was my first chance to see the rivalry between the Hawks and Wings, and the first period was very intense. As a Penguins fan, I couldn’t help but laugh when Cleary was blasted over the boards. Ok…I need to let that go.

I couldn’t help but think that the NHL should have a few of these games each year. NBC does a pretty nice job with its Game of the Week, so why not have a few outdoor games to up the exposure? I know it is not easy to set up, but I can wish, no?

Hats off to the NHL for an event that was very well done.

It was an awesome production. Great outreach for the league — you couldn’t have asked for a more exciting game. (Especially with that Cleary hit; I’m glad I DVR’ed it.)

Next up, hopefully: Canes @ Caps, RFK Stadium (though I’d prefer the much-nicer new Nationals ballpark).

Downie is such a tool, but a player like that seems like he’d fit right in with Tampa right now. Complete headcase that can’t score or do much else. Are they just bringing guys in to try to get them to invest in their resorts?

Does each player have to sit through a timeshare presentation?

Thats a great compilation of scraps from that game. When do these two meet up again in the schedule? Might be a little less scrappy with Downie not in the lineup though. On the other hand, Philly and Tampa are playing tonight so might be interesting to see if Downie takes a run at any of his former teammates.

If you need a defensemen, a guy like Kris Letang or maybe Alex Goligoski from the Penguings might be worth a pickup with injuries to Gonchar and Whitney to start the season. Goligoski scored on sunday and as of now…his name is “Alex Golagameski”
Another guy that might be worth a flyer on, is Los Angeles Kings rookie Drew Doughty….just be careful of the plus/minus category.

If you need a dman…maybe look at a guy like Kris Letang or keep your eye on Alex Gologoski. Somebody on that Pitt defense has to score some points. Another guy you might think about is Drew Doughty of the Kings but beware of plus/minus issues there.

I picked up the following guys in late rounds of my deep 12 team keeper league:

Okposo – I figure this is a good gamble – who else is going to score on that Islanders team?

Umberger – could do some damage centering Nash & Huselius

Stafford – for reasons listed above

I also got Erat in the 15th round 180th overall, which I thought was a great value for a first line winger capable of 60+ points.
