NHL 09: Team Play

IGN just put up an AWESOME video from the producers of NHL 09. The OTP (On the Pond) mode is looking awesome. You can take your created player online with a bunch of your friends or even just join a team of guys you don’t know. The mode is looking awesome and will actually get me to play more NHL 09 online this season.
Some cool info they touch on in the video:
-You get graded on how well you play as an individual and on your team.
-Your team can have up to 30 players (with just 6 playing in each game).
-You can get better with each performance.
-Your player is completely customizable.
-Old school helmets and gear.
The game is looking excellent and I can’t wait for September 9th. I’ll be picking it up for the PS3.

Team play, grades, awarding of an actual cup at the end of the season? Pretty soon you’ll be able to earn a real salary doing this and they will televise the final.
One thing I didn’t hear–can you actually throw down during games or are you limited to just pushing your teamates around after a whistle?

I love the way this is shaping up.
I love that teh rating system will help me avoid playing 15 year old, skate all over the ice, chuckers.
