QUICK HITS: Some quick news and notes from around the NHL.

- Petr Nedved has received an invite from the New York Rangers to attend training camp in September. In his last NHL season (06-07) Nedved played for the Oilers and Flyers scoring just 12 points in 40 games as well as 11 points in 14 games in the AHL. He spent last season with Sparta Praha in the Czech league scoring 20 goals and 5 assists in 45 games. Very odd stats. Did he not pass the puck at all? I am surprised he didn’t follow Jagr to the KHL. (And yes, that is his wife in the thumbnail.)

- Eric Lindros is supposedly dating Kate Hudson. I hope she does not move in for a kiss too quick and give him a concussion. I still think the hit he took from Darius Kasparitis was worse, (or better, depending upon your view) than the hit he took from Scott Stevens.

- Mats Sundin is still available. He has offers from:

o    Montreal
o    Vancouver
o    Boston
o    Atlanta
o    Toronto
o    Phoenix

I think he will sign with Vancouver as their offer has been rumored to be $10 million a year.

- The Icethetics blog has the new logos for the 3rd jerseys. Could Tampa Bay’s be any worse? BOLTS across the front? Really? That is the best anyone could come up with? Well, I guess when they spent all that money on Malone, Recchi and Gary Roberts there isn’t too much money left to spend on logo design.

- I am surprised the Bruins did not buy out Manny Fernandez. They have Rask and Thomas in net and Fernandez seems to be the odd man out as Rask is NHL ready at this point. Fernandez spent last season recovering from surgery after coming over from Minnesota.

- The Wild bought out Mark Parrish this week. He was a 30 goal scorer in the past. He could get picked up. He might be a decent addition for a team looking to get a 3rd line player in and stay under the salary cap.
