Recent Free Agent Signings
The recent free agent signings include Mark Recchi, Todd Bertuzzi and Owen Nolan. The amount for Bertuzzi and Recchi seem in-line with what they are worth, but Nolan for $2.75 million a year for 2 seasons is way too high. He scored a total of 32 points last season and has not scored more than 20 in a season since 2002-2003 with the Sharks. I see a buyout or retirement in his future.

• Philadelphia Flyers sign UFA forward Arron Asham to a multi-year contract.
• Pittsburgh Penguins sign UFA forward Ben Lovejoy to a one-year entry-level contract.
• Pittsburgh Penguins sign UFA forward Janne Pesonen to a one-year contract.
• Carolina Hurricanes re-sign RFA defenceman Dennis Seidenberg to a one-year, $1.2 million contract.
• Chicago Blackhawks sign UFA defenceman Matt Walker to a one-year contract.
• Calgary Flames sign UFA forward Todd Bertuzzi to a one-year, $1.95 million contract.
• Columbus Blue Jackets sign RFA forward R.J. Umberger to a four-year, $15 million contract.
• Toronto Maple Leafs sign RFA forward Matt Stajan to a two-year, $3.5 million contract.

• Minnesota Wild sign UFA forward Owen Nolan to a two-year, $5.5 million contract.

Word is that Tampa is offering multi year deals to Dimtri Mironov, Peter Ahola, and Janne Laukkanen to bolster their thin, ex-Penguinless blue line.

As former Penguins get picked off one by one by The Mullet and his staff, word has leaked out that the Penguins have expressed interest in Teemu Selanne if Anaheim cannot fit him under their cap.
When asked about Selanne, Penguin GM Ray Shero denied there had been any contact with Selanne’s representatives and the Penguins did not have interest in the formerly high scoring Finn. Shero also added – Guys, the name is pronounced Ziggy Palffy.
